GMR - San Gabriel Mtn Rd - Brewery - Nov 19

Post by RustBucket »

Anyone interested in a Roadster tour in the San Gabriels? I figure we meet at the Starbucks just off the 210 and N. Campus Ave. If we leave there about 7:30a and follow Euclid Ave, Mountain Ave, Mt Baldy Rd. then head west on Glendora Ridge Road. Maybe stop for some pictures at a scenic point or two. We'll follow that down the mountain to Sierra Madre Ave. We can meet up with anyone that wanted to meet later, I'm guessing about 9:30a or so, at the Stop-n-go at the corner of the 39 (N. Azusa Ave) and Sierra Madre. We'll then head up the 39 (San Gabriel Mtn Rd) until it ends (at Falling Springs). Chat a bit then cruise back down the 39 to The Congregation Brewery (near W. Sixth and N. Azusa) for some lunch and suds.

Here's a map of the route: Google Map

I hope to see you there!

This sounds like fun. I may be in the middle of an engine swap if I get up enough energy to start between now and then. If not, I may go... :D

That looks like a blast. My roadster will not be done, but our 240z is. Shoot I live on azusa and sierra Madre, I would be crazy to not join in on this one.

Just a note, this road set will take you up to over 4000' on the ridge road, and over 5000' up highway 39.. It can get very cold up there. Granted, this was last December, not November, but this is the top of 39 at the Crystal Lake Cafe, when I decided I needed a breakfast burrito in the snow..

I would bring a jacket, and maybe gloves..

RCMike, fantastic pictures! The weather looks good for the 19th. Get your Roadsters shined up. I hope to see you there!
If you're heading up from OC or lower, I'll leave Aliso around 6:15a and was planning to drive up Carbon Canyon Rd. on the way there if you want to join.

Weather looks great at the bottom. I would still recommend a jacket as your weather on the hill is closer to Wrightwood than to Glendora. Wrightwood is coming from an overnight low of 29* to high of 51*... O% precipitation, but it's chilly..

I plan to be there at the Starbucks, looking forward to the drive. It's gorgeous on the hill on chilly mornings! Might even have the trees shedding, we can get some fall color pictures for the group..
