I have to agree with you. It was years before I even knew that was by design...I thought mine were just broken. Ha ha ha.

Thanks guys for your work on this. Greg, when you have "regular" sets ready for sale please send me a PM, need these to compliment my restored dash. I'll also try to keep an eye on this thread for availability

Will do Paul. I have a couple of samples being printed this weekend I should be posting photos of them here by Tuesday if my outsourced did a good job printing them.

Hey Greg, were your sample grills printed? How did they turn out?

Vents
Although my designs are beautiful. 3D printing them can be a challenge.
A new 3D printer is due in May so full production will start at that time. In the meantime I have been dabbling in making different designs. Below are my designs. The actual parts don't photograph well so I posted my designs for now and will post actual photos after Solvang 2016.

Currently have three designs:
1. The premium design which is almost and exact copy of the original. It is difficult to print and requires I outsource the printing at this time (viewed from the bottom)

2. The basic design which has the rails extending completely from side to side (viewed from the bottom)

3. The Dash-top cover design. This one snaps into place for those who have a dash cover. Although any of the other models will fit in a DashTop covered car, this model snaps into the cover. It is beefier like the basic model but the rails are more like the original design and do not go completely across. (viewed from the top)

We are finally getting some good heat in CA so I am testing how well they stand up to the sun.
I will bring examples to Solvang but I may not sell them until afterwards.
Each set takes nearly six hours to print and I can only print one pair at a time until sometime in May when I have the new printer.

Nice job.
Question: why not just upload your renderings to Shapeways and let people buy them printed from there? You can set the price.

I just got word that my 3D printer has hit the U.S. shores and is in customs pending some paperwork. I have to assemble it from scratch. I expect to start Vent production mid-June.
I will update this thread when the time comes.
Door lock knobs may be the next thing to try. I did have someone print a late model seat knob. It would work better than nothing but it did not look as good as the ones that vendors have for sale.
