UPDATE: I got denied :(

==================================================================================
Dear Driver,

Thank you very much for your interest in Touge California 2017.

Due to the overwhelming number of entries received, we regret to inform you that we were unable to accommodate you for this year's event. Space was extremely limited and there were a number of factors we considered, including how many examples of a specific make/model were entered.

However, due to a variety of reasons such as roadworthiness of their cars or unforeseen circumstances, there could be drivers unable to make it to the event. You have been placed on a short wait list and will be notified if a space opens up.

Thank you,
— Team Touge

Just received an acceptance email. Looks like they are a bit behind.

I got accepted, however, it was with my 72' Colt. My Roadster is not as nice as a lot of cars here so I figured I'd have a better chance with a less common model.

so its an invite only rally event? They pick and choose people... seems a bit pretentious

However, Petrolicious' Rally was the same way when I took my E30. I was the only E30 and though it was cool that I got chosen, being the only one was a little lame. I understand if they are limited by space or size... maybe there should be a fun run organized for the Touge Rejects haha

Not invite only. You fill out an application, like any of these vintage rallye events. Not sure why you think it's "pretentious". If there is space for 25 cars and 150 apply, what do you expect them to do?

Let my fine example of a car in and bump a low windshield car out.

Ha ha ha. I am only kidding BTW.

What am I gonna tell my navigator?

Well, you fill out an application and those who are selected are invited to join...

Makes it a subjective event to me where they pick and choose who will and who wont be there.

If I have my car back by then, I would be down to organize a Touge Reject Rally! haha

How is this different from all of the traditional, big-name vintage car rallyes in California?
Snowball
MotherLode
Meele'
Iron Bottom
etc.

I would be thankful they even have a Japanese-only(first of its kind) event, and that they choose to include Datsuns to participate! If they decided not to include Datsuns, fine pretentious.

Jiminy Crickets I did not expect this kind of reaction to a fun event. Wait till you see my next event post! :D

I am happy that Mazda is holds this event and stirring up Japanese enthusiasts.
I appreciate that they are allowing Non-Mazda car to be entered. Go Mazda!
Mazda is just down the street so I could go watch them roll in when they arrive and photag the cars there.

It is just 1 day, right?
So just meet up and follow along behind lol. You can get the route and lunch info and "unofficially" join in. :)

Linda
Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

I saved a bunch of routes that SoCal Vintage BMW was doing in the LA hills as well as the map that the Petrolicious Rally was. We could do those as well, here in LA

It is one day. The location and route is revealed for participants.
Your fellow Datsun Roadster owner (Larry) just gained entrance. Why not do him a solid, and all of us other owners and respect the rules so that we can continue to participate in this rallye?

After the rallye is done, the routes are released and you can have at it, like Simon mentioned.
