Parking a car trailer and Pickup at Solvang

Post by msampsel »

Any wise words of were to stay and the logistics of parking a pickup, trailer and Datsun at
Solvang? And I know Ted will tell me to just do it, drive the roadster, but this is not an option for me and the wife :)

I stayed at the Kronborg Inn last year along with Mark T., who trailered his car from Los Angeles. He had his trailer parked in the back part of the lot, which allowed him room to get his car on/off pretty easily...

I stay at the Royal Copenhagen every year because they allow pets (they have a "secret garden" for dogs). They back up to a street where they is plenty of room to park a trailer and unload the car. Their rates are about $20-30 higher than the Motel 6 in Buellton which is the only other hotel I've found close that will take pets.

Hmm. Parking in town is pretty tight.
With a trailer I would go to Motel 6 in Buelton. It is nice & clean (just not fancy) and there is more parking there in the back which is totally safe. It is a 10 min drive into Solvang and the drive is beautiful. You could easily uber back and forth if you needed a break.

Yes, Demerits are normally issued for Roadster TOWING.
BUT
Since I believe this is your first Solvang show, and in the New Year Holiday spirit I will issue you
a rare "Towing Tolerated" PASS.
IF you gas cap is oriented correctly.

Thanks a lot Ted, good to know the rare "TTP" is possible, I'll be using my protractor on my gas cap
(might even get a survey team to survey it!) LOL

... this org makes me laugh ... thanks for that too

I will need to apply for a TTP also. I will be towing mine from Ft Worth to Fallbrook. I'll drive it up from there. My wife will be flying in. It's how it has to be.

I am most likely trailer in mine too. The plan right now is to hit Solvang and then do the Snowball Rally the following weekend. My co driver has a 38' Moho so the hotel rooms saved will pay for the fuel. That's tha plan this week anyway.
