At the Track. Laguna Seca.
Practice and Qualifying. 8-13-15
Both Ron Carter and Craig Carter did well on the track.
They seemed to be quite competitive with most of the cars in the class, even though Max displacement was 2500 cc.
Saw some of the 311s "dignitaries"?
Alvin was there as "wiper" to keep the Z car clean.
RCMike was there to crew for Ron.
And the "Scooter Duo" from Las Vegas, Keith and Chuck!.
Brian Z was on the job and I did not meet up with him.
Ford had 1 of the 2 NEW GT cars they will be selling in 2016. VERY Impressive.
Rep claimed they will make 250 a year. 600+ hp from the ECOBOOST V6. About $400K.

That's weird Mike. I didn't know the pit crew's place was in the "drivers lounge". in the middle of the race...LOL. Good thing Ron didn't need some fuel ;)
Looks like fun! Wish I were there!

Based on that picture I think I am perfectly qualified for the pit crew! Cool!

8-14-15. 3 car shows.
Classic Americana. Very small.
Legends of the Autobahn. Very Classy with real judges and $20 to park.
Exotics at Cannery Row. Very exotic with lots of "eye candy".
Even one "Datsun" (GT-R) at the Exotics.
Sorry guys, only one eye candy picture is allowed by our 311s Den Mother, Linda.

Monterey Car Week. 8-15-15

The Concurs d'lemons car show
and a visit to the Canepa Motors sales floor, restoration shop, race support and museum in Scotts Valley 50 miles N of Monterey.
Thanks to "exit64" who told me of this shop. WELL worth a visit.
Saw some of the 311s Las Vegas notables again at the "lemons". Keith, Chuck and Brian Z.

I also made it to the Little Car Show. I was hoping to see some 1600 Datsun Roadsters there as they had a Japanese emphasis this year. But all I noticed a couple 510's. There was a pretty cool little Austin mini tow truck.

I did see a roadster parked about 3 blocks north of the event. It was white with red stripes. I was driving as I passed it so that is about all I saw of that.

Earlier I also went on a cruise on Wednesday's "Monterey car week rally". It was pretty good. About 60 cars of all ages and types, Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari, Lotus, Lucra LC470, vettes, mustangs, Alpha Romeo and others. It was a spirited run. It went east on 68 past Laguna Seca and then right onto Laureles Grade (fun road) to G16 East (southeast) to Tassajara road and then right onto Cachagua Road back to G16 West and back.
The first part was fun on 68 and G16. But by the time we got to Tassajara road a new Roush Mustang lost its ability to use its transmission! And a tow truck was called and the car was abandoned by its owner. My 97 Z28 was having no issues. It was a nice workout. Kind of wish I had brought the Datsun.

A few minutes later on the road rally/cruise on Cachaqua road, which is much narrower and windier a nice Maserati went off the road and down the back a bit. From the road you just saw it's hind end up in the air. Good thing there was small trees and brush to slow it down. An ambulance and fire truck was called. I am not sure if the driver was hurt or not. It did not look too bad.

It was a hot day but lots of fun.

I made it to both the Little Car Show (thought there'd be more Japanese cars, including a 311 or two) and the two days of qualifying at Laguna Seca. I had a new camera and took way too many photos, so I'll keep it to a few of the Datsun-/Nissan-related shots here.

Spotted a forum member's car in the parking lot on Thursday (sorry, I forgot who's this is) and a Sklyline GT.

And a few roadster racing shots:

Last, a Skyline GT-R in the paddock, just because:

I shot some good stuff of both Ron and Craig yesterday. I'll post them after I process them. They look good on camera, but I haven't looked at them on screen yet.
