Miata Seat Covers from Leatherseats.com

Customized Factory Interiors

I just finished installing leather seat covers from leatherseats.com and it was easier than I thought it might be.

First will do the good. :) The seat covers look really good and that the mistakes they came with will not be seen.

I decided that since I was cutting the seat pan hump and laying in a flat sheet of metal that I wanted to go ahead and get new cloth seat covers too. Unfortunately they are not available OEM and so I started looking at leather covers and their pricing. The significant other made the contribution to the car and got a set on eBay from Leatherseats.com and paid for them right after the auction. Since the auction stated they were brand new still in their box we were looking forward to having them within the six business days advertised.

We were instructed to call before they would ship them out. The next morning I called and told them the year of the seats. Nine days later I called for the UPS tracking number that I obviously did not receive only to be told the seat covers were not finished and would be done early the following week. That was interesting as they were advertised as new still in their box. I guess that meant the unsewn pieces were new still in their box. So we get past the early part of next week and rather than call again we send an email that took six days to get an answer to. They state they are having issues with equipment and employees and the covers were going out the same day if not the next. These are the types of excuses I heard regularly given by my last employer. Four days later we email them again asking for the UPS tracking number and had informed them that the transaction was going into the over a month category. The covers arrived at the 30 day mark and these were the ones they advertised as new still in their box.

As for the seat covers themselves, they are very nice looking and as I said the mistakes will not be seen. The mistakes are:

The end corners that need to get tucked properly so they can be hogged correctly were not as long as they should have been or did not trail enough material were needed.

The seat backs lower edge down by the seat cushion should have been longer and the one seat back should have been straight. This is so to thoroughly over cover the hog tie points and help with concealing the foam in the lower corners where there was not enough material to hide all the foam.

Again, as I said, you can not actually see these inadequacies when the seats are installed and a little black paint on the foam and hog rings helped in case you want to cram your head down on the floor of the car and look. If this had been a four seater I would have complained to the vendor.

Just letting you know my experience to help ease some anxiety you may run into if purchasing from this vendor.

PS - The hardest thing was finding metal hangers in the house to slide into the different parts for the hog ring connections.

The seats are black leather; it is just the lighting making them look gray.
