Jim Tyler Stainless Exhaust

Post by bkippen »

Last year after almost 6 years of rebuilding my 1967 Datsun 1600 it was time to run it. The last thing to replace was the exhaust. I had seen that Jim offered an entire system so I contacted him. After deciding the right size Jim built and sent the system. Jim had marked all the pieces, included new mounting hardware and a flex pipe. The only homework was the connection between header, flex, and "A" pipe. It took me an hour to install the system and mock up the flex pipe to header adapter weld. After the weld it was a matter of securing and rotating everything to be OCD straight.
I have been running the system for 4500 miles absolutely love the tone. It is mellow at cruising and barks at full throttle but not obnoxious.

I own a prototype machine shop. I manufacture things we all use and know a quality product and understand the time it takes to build something. This exhaust system will cost you what I feel is more than fair for the quality. I want to thank Jim for making so many great parts for these cars.

I too have MANY of JTs products and they have all been amazing. Somehow years before Jim started selling parts on the list I bought an old 311 Race Car from him without us knowing each other from 311s.org (small world).

My buddy bought an exhaust from him also, and I can say that the sound is really nice. Not too loud.

Too bad you are so far away. I could put some of that old exhaust to use.

I did record a couple clips but deleted them - just didn't do it justice by losing too much low frequency energy.

Kind a like listening to Jimi Hendrix on an iPhone- It's just not sufficient. I guess I need so pro audio gear for the task.

Anyway like one of Seinfeld's girl friend said: they real and they're spectacular....I promise you will be happy.// j

I have sound clips of Shannon's SRL revving with a JT SS exhaust system from Solvang 2015. I got under his car to admire the setup:

It's one of those parts that I wish was available earlier. Amazing stuff, well done JT

Thanks Alvin, I keep the 2" mufflers in stock for system builds and may make some 2.25 or 2.5's for wound up SR's since the mufflers fit the chassis so well.

I knew somebody would like that quote LOL!
