wheel lugs nuts for Minlites!?!?!?

Post by RC240z »

So next to unobtainium on the periodical chart must be lug nuts for Minilite wheels that will fit a Datsun roadster. 7/16 thread on .750 diameter shoulder or shank style lug nuts are needed.

Here I am, two weeks out from racing at Coronado and I got to find a set of shank style lugs for my Minilites. Does anyone have a set that they want to sell!?!?! Or know where I can get them on short order. I do have an email into Minilite in England.

Ron,
does APT in Riverside carry minilites? they might be a resource.

these guys have good parts but kinda crappy chrome plating adhesion, but they'd last the weekend in Coronado. (congrats on the invite by the way)

dome XL duplex mag

This did the trick. Ordered, and will be here tomorrow. I needed the .750 diameter, so I went with the Anaheim location. I will have to cut down the shank length on a lathe but at least I have a solution.

Thank you all....

Just in case...
When I had that same problem, I called Minilite in England and was able to order directly from them. At the time, no-one in the states that I could find had the correct lug nut.

All of those links are broken but luckily one looks like the business is still active, though they've moved locations and are still in SoCal, but quite a ways away...

So 10 years later, someone else is having problems with lugs for their minilites too :)

Here are the lugs on the wheels right now.

and heres the best shot I could get showing the seat for the lugs on the wheels

It actually looks like the lugs are correct for the wheels, but the wheels have some sort of insert in them. I tried to pull them out, but they didnt come out and I was preoccupied with getting the suspension installed.

Any ideas? Is there a chance that I have the correct lugs for the wheels, but just need to figure out how to get these inserts out?

You might check with someone like Moss Motors, who carries Mini Lite wheels.

Here is a picture I found on the Net of Mini Lite Lug Nuts that look like they might be correct:

From that pic, I found my way to these...

Im still not 100% sure as the picture is different, but the listing sounds correct.

Any input?

Over the years, who knows what has been done to the wheel.
No expert here, but the wheel does not exhibit an acorn type insert.
Time to get out the calipers and do some measuring.
There are many lugnut advertisements that include dimensions.

Maybe try a wheel shop locally to see who their suppliers are.

could they be a ball type lug nutz? I think i’ve seen VW bugs convert lug bolts into studs and they end up using porsche type ball nuts.

Was looking through a lug nut catalog and there are hundreds of different types and sizes... mind numbing fun... almost like chosing paint chips.. or wedding cake samples..

this has been my experience and it finally bit me (will update it all eventually), but this has been quite frustrating
