I replaced the SU carb fuel bowl hoses with Tygon hose...very tiny, but rated for fuel.
I wonder if they make a size for the fuel filler hose. It's pretty durable and stays flexible too.

Gates lists it by diameter as filler neck hose. Not something to improvise, think "Pinto" :(
Someone mentioned in another thread Dean had it for $14.00, don't know how long ago.

I use Tygon tubing at work, It ages pretty fast and needs to be replaced every couple of years or less.

I would say "Bite the bullet" and go to a marine store. They will have bulk fuel hose that will last and last.

I got mine from Dean.

Upon further inspection, it was a Gates "Green Stripe" hose.
Which is a radiator hose :(
I will not be installing.

I was hoping it was something I could pick up from a local parts store - I may just go ahead and order this one.

It is, use the Gates number, call around. When I used to work in the NAPA, we sold it by the foot. Cuts nicely with a fine hacksaw.

I know that locally Advance Auto Parts and Napa had 3 foot sections of the fuel filler hose in stock not too long ago. I haven't checked in a while. It was pretty cheap iirc.

Finally got the R16 motor running again

I plan to do more clean up while the radiator is out

Can I run the motor for less than a minute at a time just to move it on it's own power without damaging anything?
Or will I damage something on the motor?

Yes, you can run the engine for probably a couple minutes with no water and do no damage, especially just at idle. Just give it some cool down time between starts if you run it that long. Congrats on getting it running!

Next small stupid related question:
What about the small hose next to the fuel filler hose...what can be used there?

Yeah, I know, they're hard to read. See them blown-up in the photo gallery, or advise me on how to enable a click to make them larger.

I found the Gates 1 7/8" hose at a local parts store (Kunkel's). Unfortunately, it's $23 per foot and only comes in 3 foot lengths.

Here is link from NAPA for an interchange from the Gates hose:
part #23930 ---->NBH 1125

I can't get links to work so just use above number .
