Wow, that's a heck of a pause in a project! I thought I was bad :-)
Eddie Wu's top is set up almost exactly like my 67.5. Here's a not very clear pic of the set-up on the hardtop.

Looking forward to seeing the completed project Alvin, that smooth top is really nice.

Eddie's is a more elegant solution. But if you look around, you may be able to find a latch that would work without wrenches

I use a nut under the bracket and a rubber bushing inside the eye of the bolt.
That way I can adjust the pressure or lack of applied by the top. I run mine with a quarter to half inch clearance.

On further thought, if you don't take it on and off very often, then Tom/Eddie/ Phil's method makes sense, simple and works.

Mine has the wing nuts. Quick and easy. It looks like it would go on really fast if I ever take it off the ceiling an put it on the car! :-)

I don't understand the wing nut!

After you get it set the first time, cut the EYE Bolt off and install a cap nut and a lock nut under the bracket. The tension adjustment is the same as for the soft top (on the body). Just two nuts and the clamps in front to install or remove.....actually faster than folding the soft top.....only minutes at most......harder to lift the top off.... LOL

Wing nut for late models, with the fixed pivot? I see Phil's point for the early cars, even use an acorn nut on the shortened eyebolt and jam it.

Alvin, looks nice. I could actually use the bubble top on the 64, any extra headroom would be good. The hardtop Ninja85 just picked up was secured through the brass grommeted hole in the cockpit surround trim. I don't know if there is a flat area above there, but it was a very clean install.

Looks very nice. I am rebuilding a high screen hardtop and am going to do mine in black too. Did you change the side connections or do you still need a spanner?
