Mouse Milk Penetrating Oil

Post by DAC21 »

Has anyone used this? Pretty impressive reviews on Amazon. My understanding is that this product has been around for many years, but it has been primarily marketed to the Aircraft Industry. Apparently it is excellent at lubricating cables as well as loosening frozen fasteners. If you have an Aircraft supply store nearby they sell this at half the Amazon price. Quart bottles are around $20 at supply stores. I'm not sure about application, but a small squeeze bottle with a needle tip applicator should do the trick. It sounds like a Roadsters best friend.

Whenever penetrating oil comes up on the old tractor forum a lot of discussion is generated. Everyone has their favorite which they swear by, but the most popular is always PB Blaster. I am sure that the reason for this is simply that it is what Walmart carries. Usually someone will post a link to the Project Farm YouTube channel. This guy does actual controlled comparison tests of various products. Last I knew the best was 50-50 Acetone and ATF. Maybe he will include Mouse Milk sometime.

I'd save your $ AN hardware has a soft metal coating like aluminum /titanium ? on the bolt to keep rust off it
High chromium steel rust quick and deep as does 6061/6063 T6 corrodes quick. most of aircraft bolts do not have a rust prob unless it's coating is gone , maybe this stuff is more protecting of the coating

The best penetrant I ever used was Mopars heat riser valve penetrant it would take their tiny exh manifold to headerpipe bolts that seized up 8 months after new
To where you could use your fingers to spin it off
I bought multiple cans ....they discontinued it though ...it had cancer causing chemicals ....yikes

I also thought that since so much of the aircraft Industry is dealing with aluminum that this product might be more specialized. But there are many folks who have left 5* (appear legit) reviews on Amazon having used Mouse Milk on Autos or other applications that it has peaked my interest.

Amazon reviews have come up here a few months ago. It seems that a little checking reveals that most products of a snake oil nature get a lot of high reviews.

I am a big fan of AeroKroil. When taking apart my 1960, which seemingly had never been disassembled this stuff was magic. Expensive but well worth it.

There is a guy on YouTube whom has done a couple side by side tests including with the Aerokroil. (who knows how scientific) All the major players are used (not mouse milk yet) and surprisingly ATF with Acetone, Heat or Liquid Wrench seem to be at or near the top. I have PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench and Seafoam Deep Creep in the garage, I'll probably pick up some mouse milk as well. When I get into the project we will see, who knows?
