Fuel Pumps

Are the fuel pumps for the 1600 and 2000 interchangeable??
Having trouble with fuel delivery to the carbs on my 2000, so thought I'd try the 1600 fuel pump.
It doesn't want to mount to the block with the spacer I used on the 1600.

Functionally they interchange. Early pumps had a thin flange, later a thick flange. You must use the spacer with both. Try mounting it without the lock washers.

Are you using bolts to mount the pump? I had trouble with the bolts hitting the frame so I changed to studs. The trick is to take the studs out a bit to take off and remount the pump as needed. Not sure if anyone else had this problem.

Originally the pumps were installed with studs. The earlier studs were slightly shorter than later studs to accommodate the thicker flange of the later pumps. They can be a PITA to install and you may have to rock the engine over or jack up the block slightly to facilitate it.
