Flasher & Light Combo Issue

Post by Bass1st »

Hi All,

I have a '68 1600 which has been upgraded to LED 1157 blubs and EF32RLNP flasher cans.

With the lights off the flashers work a treat.

With the headlights on one of my flashers (rear passenger side) fails to work, either with the turn signal or with the hazards. The light stays on solid.

Any ideas?

The cans have to be mounted to clean bare metal where they screw in to the car, for a good ground.

Thanks Linda. Looks like the cans are grounded to an aftermarket bracket in the foot well which seem to have some resistance. I will run a wire to a known good ground and see if it fixed the problem. I just hope I don't have an issue in the loom somewhere!

No luck. Cans are well grounded. Very strange issue.

The flashers are rated for the low amp led bulbs ?
the older 60s circuit breaker flasher blow / open circuits because the bulbs draw more amps than the circuit can take then resets to do it again... later they have a timer that gives conn.
A weak conn. Does / causes the same thing
I would run a power pos wire directly to the Tc swt see if it fixes if not , directly to the flasher. That should make it flash
If not you have a problem flasher to bulbs
You could have a feed back problem

Problem fixed...on closer inspection the ground connection on the light housing was loose. I soldered it up and now it works. I also cleaned up all the original bullet connections.

I appreciate the advise!
