Chrome Side Trim

Post by ARowe84 »

How hard is it to take off and replace the chrome side trim? I obviously haven't looked much at it yet but thought I'd check with the experts on here first. Previous owner included a much nicer set of trim, mine currently on the car is quite dinged up. Thanks! -Andy

How dinged up are they, I might be interested in them if you replace them. Regarding your paint, fresh paint always looks nice, but something to be said for a 50 year old car wearing it's original colors and showing it's character.

Removal of side trim depends on how rusty the bolts are, whether you can contort your hands to get to thin, confined spaces, and whether you drop any of the nuts. After removal, you can get replacement trim holders and use anti-seize liberally.
Front fender trim is easiest with fender removal. Its hard to remove the front nuts from the doors and the front nuts from the rear quarter panels.

note - "chrome" side trim is actually STAINLESS.
