Running a little rich

Post by MattC »

You may have seen another thread where I was asking about the condition of my valves and the consensus was that the mixture was rich.

I think I found a contributing factor to why I couldn’t get the motor to perform when I leaned it out even a little bit more. See anything odd about the gasket between the air cleaner and carb?

Gasket is upside down.
Noticed that you have a drain plug in the float bowl. When you re-install the carbs, a modified M8 x 1.0 pitch brake caliper bleeder (cut to thread length required) and o-ring installed can be used to check the fuel level in the fuel bowl. Attach a clear fuel line to the installed bleeder a drape over the fender and put the loose end into a container. When running the bowl fuel level will be shown in the drain clear fuel line.

Cheers
