SPL vs. SRL/ model year axle splines?

Post by ZeroNilNada »

Hi everyone.

Was wondering if there are differences between the axle splines for the different model years or between the 1600 vs. 2000.

If I’m not mistaken, the earlier year cars had different spline counts but thought the later models were the same.

If that’s not true, will later model axles fit the earlier model axle housing?

I ordered an OS Giken LSD but the splines don’t match my axles. Curious if OS just sent me the wrong thing or if I am simply uninformed.

Thanks for any insight.

Only one part number for 1600s and 2000s.
My junk pile:
71 Jeep Gladiator. Restored w/#s matching engine. My WeeBeasty
70 1600 legit 2nd owner. Stroked and bored
Several salvaged w access to a barn full of parts, part cars & whole cars
......What's in the barn is for sale. What do you need?

Found out that I was accidentally sent the wrong diff. The folks at OS Giken have taken care of everything and the right one is on the way. A simple mistake that they’ve made right.
Thanks for all the comments!
