U20 cam cover ventilation hose differences

Post by 19692000survivor »

I have (3) U20 engines (2) have the connection like the one pictured on the lower left but (1) has a curved neck. Was there a change in later models or ?

The change was a late production change. I don't know if it made it onto cars, but service hoses came with the later fitting.

That’s interesting. Do you know what year they became available? I can’t say I have ever seen one before. I always thought it looked like my cam cover ventilation port was missing a piece at the hose connection because the lip was so short and had no flange on the top to provide tension on the inside of the hose to hold it tight. The hose fits so much better with the later extended flange style. The negative is that it raises the hose up higher on the cam cover making it look somewhat out of place to me. Thank you for the explanation between the two styles and how it came about. Rick

No I don't have any more information on that. Dann at Rallye may know more details. As always, I am happy to help!
