2000 engine in a 1966
Heya...starting a project here. I have a 1966 1600 and want to put in a 2000 engine and trans from a 1969. I'm new to this site and wonder if there is a thread of someone else doing something like this?

That is a common swap. It's basically a bolt in procedure. The transmission mount has to be changed and the shift lever is moved slightly. The radiators are different and I suspect some cooling and heater lines are as well. I'm sure there are more minor changes as well. Someone who has done the swap or is more familiar with it than I am will chime in soon.

Re: 2000 engine in a 1966
Welcome! There is all the information you need here. It is relatively straight forward on a 66- I believe there are two main issues:
1)The master cylinder brake "pocket", it is recessed on a 67.5 onward (when the 2000 was introduced)
2) Transmission hump changes - I know you have to elongate the shifter hole, and I think you have to make a small creative "dent" somewhere on the side of the tunnel for clearance issues.
There is an engine swap section that should have all the info you need.
