I wish I could, but the rules specifically state this isn't allowed.

2:11 REAR END Welded spider gear rear ends prohibited in all classes.

I do have an unused spool sitting on my shelf though.

If you want to go light, a 7.5 is the same size as the H190. The ring gear in a 7.5 should be 0.020" larger, it should be strong enough.
You should consider you will be pushing a 2000 lb car without much weight on the rear wheels.
I had my Raptor out at Anza-Borrego on Tuesday. In 2wd with the regular and advanced traction controls turned off, in soft sand, I had trouble getting her to start moving.....Just spun the rear wheel, no matter how lightly I tried to accelerate.

2nd time user. I have a 69 1600 roadster. Want to put a better performing sway bar. I can’t find one, only for 510 Datsun, is that the same one?

If it's any help, Carl used a S10 rear axle, Chevy 10bolt. Only a 215 Oldsmobile, but those rears are easy to find

Thanks dbrick, seems like a pretty good idea. I'm still processing what to do on this.

It seems boils down to:

• beefy, heavy axle (9", 8.8") that will hold up for sure or...

• a smaller, lighter axle that will "probably" be ok (7.5", 10 bolt, RX7)

• The 8" is an interesting in-between, but a bit harder to find and less parts support

Any option is going to have a ton of labor in it which reduces the impact of parts cost somewhat. However, easy to find parts are definitely a benefit since I plan to do some racing and things break.

Below is a recap of the info I've looked up:

Width and lug pattern:
Datsun 2000 rear axle width at 47.5" (reference)
S10 10 bolts are ~54.5" wide, 5x4.75 lugs (reference)
The ford ranger 7.5" or 8.8" is 56.5", 5x4.5 lugs. (reference)
The ford 8" is 52.25" minimum stock 5 lug (reference)
The RX7 rear end (finally found the thread)
Ford 9" is probably 56.5" minimum 5 lug (same reference info as the 8" above)

Weight:
Datsun 2000 - not sure, should be light
S10 10 bolt - 160lbs
Ford ranger 7.5" - 130lbs (reference)
Ford ranger 8.8" - 146lbs - 199lbs (reference)
Ford 8" - 170lbs
RX7 - unknown
Toyota truck rear - 23 lbs heavier than RX7 (reference)
Ford 9" - 194lbs

Cost: (to me, estimated with http://www.car-part.com and google)
10 bolt $150 stock + custom axles, r&p, lsd ($1000) ~ $1200
Ranger 7.5" $150 stock + custom axles, r&p, lsd ($1000) ~$1200
Ranger 8.8" $150 stock + custom axles, r&p ($550) ~$700
Ford 8" $200 + ship ($300) + custom axles, r&p, lsd ($850) ~1350
RX7 $250 + ship ($300) + r&p, lsd ($650) ~$1200 (note, someone said it was possible to cut and re-weld the ends on these axles? Skipping custom axle cost)
Ford 9" custom axles & lsd (I have everything else) - $700

Above costs don't include breaks, rebuild kits, labor or fluids.

Look at early cj5. It is a Dana 44 iirc and basically the same width as a roadster
