Where do the heater pipes go???

Post by Gornal »

Hi, have been scouring the resources but can't seem to find the right answer. I have a '66 with a 2000cc U20 engine. I can't seem to find which of the two inlets in the firewall the pipe from the front of the manifold goes to. (See pic 1)

In addition, I can't remember where the valve control attaches to. (see pic 2)

There seems to be two openings on the manifold (one at the front of the engine bay and one at the back) (see pic 3)

Any help would be well received!

David, it appears that you don't have the manifold heat or the by-pass pipe, is that so? post a pic from a little further back so that one can see the whole situation.

Here’s a couple of pics of my cars with engine removed

The hose that connects to the passenger side inlet goes to manifold rear, the long hose that goes to the front manifold T, connects to the inlet below the latch

You may have to enlarge pics to see

These are high windshield cars. Not sure how early

Here are some other pics from further away. The pipes only have two inlets in the firewall (upper drivers side) and Centre. I just cant recall where the valve goes on this thing. The other concern is the back of the manifold (closest end to firewall) has an opening and I assume a pipe goes from this to the other inlet/outlet from the firewall (heater box) to complete the fluid circuit??

Unlike the pics above of the other roadsters (thanks by the way - very helpful) my roadster only has inlets / outlets at the rear of the firewall, not the side.

The blue cam cover looks nice! Straighten up your vacuum advance tube clip.

This is from a 67.5, don't know what the differences might be. The heater valve mounts on the firewall.

My vacuum advance clip is on the rear cam cover nut...?

Also, my alternator top bracket curves down...mounted 180 degress ....what is correct?

No, the clip on the cam cover over the number 4 exhaust port is the clip for the vacuum advance tube.
