No electrical through IGN wiring

Post by Dustin82 »

First post in a while!

I'm about to start some cable tracing today but figured I would ask here first before I get started... At the moment, I have no power running through the IGN fuse. Turn signals, temp gauge, gas gauge, back up lights and anything else powered when the ignition is on does not work. Recently I had to recable the wiring from the ignition switch to the ignition coil because I accidentally fried it. I installed a new ignition switch as well just in case. Car starts right up and all other electrical works fine. So now I'm wondering if I happened to fry another cable, which I will find with my tracing, so my questions are:

What ground locations should I check for related to IGN? Any inside the cabin? Hard to tell with the cabling diagrams
Are there other fuses besides those in the glove box? If so, where? Also hard to tell with the cabling diagrams
What parts should I be inspecting for damage?

Thanks!

I’m a little confused. Do you have ignition or not. Does that car start from the key or not?

If you can’t get it to run from the key and you have an early, ‘67 or before roadster, check your ammeter. Not sure if later year roadsters have ammeters or not. The ammeter went bad on mine and Had no ignition using the key. Bypassed the ammeter with a fuse and was back in business. There’s a lot of threads about the ammeter on the forum.

Does a 69 have an ammeter?

I think I just figured it out. When I replaced the the wire running from IG on the ignition switch to the coil, I didn't realize it should have been spliced with both the voltage regulator and fuse box. I had bypassed that splice entirely.

Yes, pretty sure it's solved. Made the splice and everything came back on again.
