Engine Hoist Mount Points

Post by Gornal »

Hi all,

I am trying to lift out my motor prior to respray. I have an engine hook at the front of the engine but can't find one at the back. Is there somewhere else to attach the hoist to? DO I need to buy another hoist point?

Lots of places you can lift from.

Prob easiest is to loop a strap or belt around/through the rear of the intake or exhaust manifolds and attach to that with a removable chain link.
or If the manifolds are off, you an use a couple of the manifold studs.
or If you have a bolt with the correct thread and a little longer, you could use the upper trans bolt.
or If you have a long chain you could go down to the upper start bolt, but the other options are probably better.

All these work just fine. j

Factory rear lift point is the rear manifold stud with a eyelet bracket (which can Be hard to find) . Lots of alternative methods as JT listed.

A load leveler on a cherry picker is always useful as you have to clear the tranny over the front metal work. So the angle is pretty high.
