Another reason we promote this site at the shows we attend! Adults, one and all! Proud to be a member!
We can say "ooops" in public and have friends laugh with and not at us. And still learn.

If you look carefully at the top of the fuel pump, the OEM pumps have arrows showing direction of flow. I have found two variations.

I have not had a mechanical pump for years, but I do recall that being a possibility. Also, just to be sure it's fuel related, try getting the engine to fire on starter fluid... won't run long but it will confirm that it would with enough fuel.

Remove the pump, and using a small wooden dowel, or pencil, lay it in the pump hole, on top of the halfshaft "Cam" lobe for the fuel pump. Crank the engine by hand, does the dowel move up and down? If so, probably not the half shaft or lobe. If not, then you have a problem. It is likely not broken as the halfshaft also drives the distributor- so if it cranks and your dizzie rotor is turning, the shaft is intact and spinning. The only thing left is the lobe is worn through/off or has a groove in it.
