But easier to blow out the boots, Mike. Those Jiffy Lube places do that all day long

Re: How To Zerk Greasing
Thinking about replacing all the boot covers as mine too are covered with dirt caked on and that’s what’s probably holding the grease in right now. If I order the replacement boot kit from Datsun parts, how big of a project am I getting myself into replacing those? Just curious thanks.

Re: How To Zerk Greasing
As you might imagine, the boot covers slip over the component parts of the variousl flexing joints.
So, to replace the boot covers on the tie rod for instance, you must remove the tie rod. Most take the time to clean the ends of old grease and repaint the part. Then the boots sort of slip/snap over the body of the knuckle and you put it back.
So replacing all the boots means taking the front end of the car apart. Good time to check for wear and replace the parts that are no longer serviceable.

Re: How To Zerk Greasing
You don't have to do ALL the boots, some are easier than others

Re: How To Zerk Greasing
Linda's right....
The steering arms Including tie rod) and ball joints were easiest for me.
Spindles....not so much.
A Harbor Freight ball joint separator (has been discussed on previous threads) is pretty cheap and a big help. Although if they're not too bad, you can get most apart with pressure and a medium hammer.
If you decide to tackle the job, make a thorough check of your idler and steering gear boxes. You'll not have a better time to address them.

If they only made a boot with a tiny little zipper...
