So pics of things totally unrelated to the thread...... Not too helpful. :(
How about a pic of what you were asking about so we can learn and we are not left hanging about what you were talking about? Also might improve your chances of having your posts read and understood in the future, otherwise too confusing.

This is for aftermarket alternator s cheapos like $35 . Diode is to keep the car from running after key is out and off . Pointing to alt . Fuse is to keep from frying something , don't remember what .. and the excite wire loops back to power post for power .lol.

Not sure on those wires, what is going on.
I did notice thAt the grounding point on the frame could be better, though.

Replace your un insulated space connectors with a plug like this:
ACDelco PT2288 Professional Alternator ... RBbCMYJ936

One wire is positive, the other ground. it sounds like those might be touching causing a short to ground.

Try this link

Pig Tail

You should also be able to use your favorite search engine using "ACDelco Professional Alternator Pigtail PT2288" to find one.

Pretty sure that is what he was pointing out.

You can find them at the parts store, that's where I bought one.

Ebay is full of them, GM 10si alternator pigtail.

Or with the diode built in.
