NOS Nissan cam for the U20

Post by boxcar »

While unboxing all of the parts that came with my 1969 SRL I came across this :

Not sure how to ID the grind without miching it. I hate to remove it from the bag as it is sealed. It'd be great if it was a B cam .
No part numbers on box. Any ideas?

Look on the back end of it there will be either an "A" or a "B" stamped into it. Looks like a B cam to me, but hard to say without looking at the end of it.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

As Will said look for B stamped on back end. For reference Competition manual says cam part number is 13000-25500

Not sure I need it. The car has a new B cam in the rebuilt head.

You'll have no trouble selling it if you decide to.
I'd bet a "real" B cam in factory wrapper would go pretty quickly.

Dean sells a reground cam that's very near B specs and a new aftermarket cam that's even closer at something like $210 and $235 respectively. I think your new NOS B cam should easily find a buyer at $300. Since there would be no noticeable performance difference between your cams and Dean's cams, along with the fact that it's not a visible item, I don't feel there would be a substantial difference in value. Still a NOS B cam would be my choice over Dean's.

Im in the same camp as Mike. There is likely a bit of value in an original unopened box so Id guess he's about right.

Thanks guys. That at least gives me a fair idea of the value of the part. Likely it will be traded at some point for parts I need for my 69. Thanks again.

Except that, depending on how much the base circle is cut, you may have to use taller lash pads for a reground cam vs stock height pads on the NOS cam assuming the head is built right. Regardless, both will need new or reground rockers. Great find!
