The sensor is about halfway along the 2 - 1 collector before the start of the tail pipe.

Mine is mounted just after the header flange at the beginning of the flex pipe. Plenty of room and accessible through the wheel well. I haven't mounted the gauge yet it has a long enough lead on it that i can set in on the battery to aid in setting the carbs. I thinking to the right of the radio. I need all the room I can get on the drivers side.

I have a typical aftermarket header with the O2 sensor in the collector just past the exit of the 4 tubes. I do not have a flex pipe. Room is tight, sensor is angled to about 35 degrees or so as I recall. Consider that many units require an open air recalibration be done every once in a while with the sensor out of the pipe.
