My 13 month old starter isnt doing its job anymore, its spinning but its not spinning the motor.

Do I need to replace the entire starter or can I replace the solenoid? Anything I can do to prevent this in the future??

To answer the first question, YES!! I had a 66 Mustang with a 289 and headers, and if I got the headers hot (think driving triple digit speeds for a period of time), the starter would be baked and seize. That being said, your issue sounds like a solenoid or bendix issue. My old Ford didn't have the solenoid, so I can't speak to that.

I started a thread about it to keep the info all in one place, so I will C&P your reply (and my reply) there

Good Day,
Working on my '64 spl310. My question is brake and clutch master cylinders. I have a stack of shims and have read through the manuals for info on using them but I am not finding anything. Obviously, the shims make the mc move up or down.
My question, the shims are thin, what exactly am I looking at the shims doing? Master cyl for level? Angle of the push rod? Other?
Thanks

^Are you kidding? ^ Have you ever looked at any of Alvin's pictures?? His car is perfect for this, and he is the king of photo library's. Look at any of his posts for "Where did you drive this weekend" there are bound to be dozens.

If Alvin's is too nice, then this should fit the bill:

You may want to look for the same picture with a high windshield car.
