The frame still has old, original-looking weather stripping on ... above is a close - up, so I assume the plates are still under there. I'll remove the old weather stripping in the next few days to confirm.

also: random question, does anyone know the thread/ pitch of the shifter? I found a cool wood knob and am considering it, but its not listed as a part for a Datsun. Just says its threaded internally
I can send you the Mikuni part. The shift knob thread is most likely 8x 1.25mm for your car Simon. j

Whats the best way to fix the cracks in the windage tray of my Comp oil pan? Ive heard welding and brazing are the best options. Any tips?

Mine didn't have one so I made one out of sheet metal. It also cracked so I braised in washers over the holes to reinforce them.

Brazing would be a better option, as it uses less heat and thus inflicts less stress on the thin metal, therefore reducing the chance of further cracking. You should also do as Spyder did and add the washers. Any welding shop could do this for you in probably 15 minutes.

Figure this will be OK without any mods?
