All that is necessary is to move all the wires on the resistor to one end.
How do u mean ?'i just understood what you meant by this .. what goes on to the other side of. It ? Nothing ? I don't know how I read this last bit you put but it wasn't correct . Please do u have a picture ? If you ever see this , I hope .

My headlight wires , or running lights that is , have too many volts through it I believe through Mr multi meeter readings anyway and blowing fuses too .

Lorna,
I am happy to help you.
FIRST, put a description of your car in your signature!!!

You have no idea how much of a PIA it is to go back looking for which year / model.

The wiring varies year to year, so what the VIN or correct model year.....all I could find is a early 1600.
FYI, most likely if the voltage is high, the current will not be high.....when the car is not running.
Lets work on one problem at a time.

I suggest the ignition first. FYI that circuit is NOT fused.....Some cars have a fusible link at the starter.....it a very good idea to install a 30 - 50 amp. circuit breaker, master MAXI fuse or fusible link to protect your wiring and amp meter.

I have I believe . With a diode I installed off the alternator . I have schematics on this wiring and I get ya on the yr and model .I'll do that . There's like 5-6 different ones and one has matched up so far through this last year . Diagram SPL311-U& SRL311-U LAtER MODLES ON PAGE 80 OF MY BIBLE . Oops didn't mean to yell . Of the service manuel book thing for these . ITS A 68 late modle with a 3main in it .. I know I know .but it's in oh and a smog dist . haha yep fun .

Oh and the 30-50amp is what I needed to know . I have installed one with new alternator . I'll send a pic here with it . I've been installing way too weak a fuse . . For some reason I was thinking like dash kinda readings as far as the size fuze . .idk it works fine , if fuse pops 3ed time now .but I've also been working through wires again too . So maybe I popped it this last time and fuse was too light ?, Idk .now I'm circling so I'll shut n wait

The "best 68 wiring Diagram" is in the wiki.

Did you use a Nissan Alternator?
Is it on the left or moved to the Right?
Internal voltage Regulator or Stock external?

You say you installed a Fuse:
what size wire?
Where?
What color are the terminal wires?
Post Pictures?

If its an internal voltage regulator on the Right side. I would suggest a new Red or White wire of at least 10 ga. directly to the Battery.
There is not too much need for a fuse in a wire directly from the B+ to the battery Positive especially if its not in a wiring loom. If the Alternator shorts internally or you Jump the car with wrong polarity, you new wire will melt the covering off. It you put a fuse in that wire, it needs to be at least 50 amps and can be as large as 100 amps.

No not on that wire , the ignition wire in pigtail with an alternator I found on a list here somewhere . My car would stay running after I shut key and pulled it out . So an x boyfriend walked me through a diode and fuse set up to stop that.. it's all shrinked wrapped up but I'll get a pic rt now .

my phone died as I was taking pic . it'll take a second to charge enuf to turn on again . let me try to answer your questions , the ones I've missed . yes 12v coil , no no electric starter motor.. internal regulator idk I thought so . I believe it read 8.5 or so on the coil negative port. aftermarket alt . on rite side. 10g for the wire I used . the wire I don't remember the color but it was the one that went to ignition because of the over run . or run on . ran when key off issue . .. I did not run a separate wire to battery. I used the pigtail instead . causing the issue with it running on . I've been using much less on amps fuse . anywhere from 15-30 amps now at 30 .y largest one I have . I haven't jumped the car , I've charged it with trickle charger at 6v . idk if alt shorts internal, I've blown my third fuse a few times it has red wire on the rite side and I don't know the left side color rt now .dark out . my phone I got 2 pics shot with phone before shutting off I'll post in a minute . should have enuf charge to turn on now so I'll do that and be back

ok revision . final hopefully
used gm alt
wired in with ignition key (stayed the same)
diode same
fused wire is out ! **no need for fuse / using ignition system , already had fuse !
so all works great now and not blowing fuses anymore..
**** oh I did shave off just a touch of the alternator on that bump that wants to kiss the drive shaft thing right there .. it's great with room to spare no problem with it .
and get smaller belt why you have the other out already . the old will fit but you might as well have a backup .. ok and the end ..hahah

and grounding my stereo to itself through the aux wires ground to a screw on the radio stopped the bouncing on my amp gage somehow . so far it's holding . I grounded the radio to stop the static but seemed to stop the bouncing also .. 2 days now all ok ... we'll see if any later updates I'll post here .
