bypass register to coil to fix electrical issues hopefully.

hey I found this last night in the forum and I have a quick question about it pls.
now the two lower pictures are under bypass the register , so both ways do so ? or am I reading it wrong ? I've had a 12v coil in for a bit now and idk if my electrical issues are from this or not , so I'm going to bypass to see if it correct s any that seem to pop up and then go away only to pop up again . so hopefully this will fix any issues .

Are you installing an electronic ignition so that you need a full 12 volts? If not, bypassing the resistor sends 12 volts to the coil which might burn the points. Experts here can (and should) correct me but I thought the stock coil wants to see about 8 volts.

Both will bypass the resistor, but I don't like either.
All that is necessary is to move all the wires on the resistor to one end.

will it cause fire issue ? ok I guess things r a bit more complicated . first I've put on ss breaded hose slips on . thought maybe I was grounding with car so I pulled back all touching ss from any touching of the body . also I've been behind the raido into electrical to fix heater issue . then I've noticed I've blown the too fuse a couple times and the third fuse top being #1 has popped out of contact a couple times not blowing fuse but separating contact . now I've "bypassed the resister and it only fires sometimes and doesn't stay on . then will turn over getting dwell reading but .... checked outgoing fuel line and it's slowing down so I blasted it with my compressor . is this too much change to pinpoint on here ? I'm still just turning over with limited fire and to stall out again. ?? any ideas

oh and no . just a while ago ,reason the coil being new , I've had something I don't know going on I thought was electrical in the past so I was throwing parts at it with new condenser and coil . so that's why it's in . oh and my amps inside car on dash , has been jumping up and down . now after this trip I got my SS braided slips in and have put them on and blown fuse right before this . so I've kinda looked through my wires to see if there's a reason for all this . bypass resister and now only turning over with limited fire . good dwell as I see it . reading 26(×2) from 8cyl scale .

oh and yesterday before I did anything , I had basically no dwell read . that's why I'm inside wires and distrubutor

wait it's firing now ! I dono what I did but adjust dwell larger read is what I'll do next . is at 30 now . going to put it back to 50 so hopefully it'll stay and be ok now .

ok hate to admit it but I think it was outflowing fuel line again. But bypassing the resister has brought my amps normal I think . at least for now it's not jumping all crazy .... thanks . like anything it seems , ask and the symptoms go away . . why is that . . well heck thanks . it's running again .

I think now that I have a new alternator I'm putting it back on to see what's up now !! If u don't like it , I don't like it :-) let's see if the car likes it . Nothing's amiss , I would rather have it the way it was built if possible . I'm sure they knew what they were doing . I do have a 12v coil now though so we'll see .

Your coil either has an internal resister and therefore requires you to by-pass the resistor or it doesn't.

Most 12v coils have an internal resister.

PS: I was not saying anything about by-pass or not.....just the method.

How do I find out ? My alternator failing could have been causing the old issues I had , but idk still . I'm pulling back some settings that we're not quite textbook measurements because the car responded better . Just trying some things to learn more on the car . .

Measure the voltage at the dizzy where the capacitor (e.g. the condenser) attaches.
With the ignition key in the on position it should read 8 volts.
If it reads 12 volts, you want the resistor in line to the coil to lower the voltage or your points will wear quickly.
If it reads less than 8 there is something amiss
