That would work and be easy to install.
I got a starter harness from you (very nice, factory conncetors and stout wires).
Since the starter harness is subject to so much degradation, would it be worth it to modify the factory design and replacing the replacement harnesses to accomodate this wouldn't be worth while. Assuming many harnesses need to be replaced anyway, modifying the factory design to provide for direct power to the lighting system would eliminate the need to plug into the system and be even more stealthy.
What do you think?

To make it completely stealth you just need to splice on to the 10 gauge wire in the dash harness. Then just decide where you want the fuse holder to be handy. However this would not be completely reversible. You could also if you want grab power at the ammeter but that is pita.

90 plus percent of people probably wouldn't even notice the interception between the starter and dash harness. Tape the power wire on the backside of the dash harness until it enters the firewall. Frankly I can barely see the starter harness under the master cylinders. And that is without my air cleaner on.

You're right, it's tough to see that poor starter harness down there, cooking away by the exhaust....

It's about $15 to $20 worth of stuff. Two sets of connectors, relay, fuse holder, wire and terminals.

So here is what I made for the 68. Just needs to have a ground wire added for the relay. In order to make it easy to install you would want to push the wire through the firewall grommet and then push in to the connectors. I would then put tape over the 3 wires. I forgot to put the sleeving on the red wire.

I would think so. I hooked it up to my power supply to make sure it works correctly. It doesn't work so well when you forget to power up one of the connections, duh. Oh yeah, let's put power here.

I did up a layout for a relay that will remove the headlight amperage through the light switch for 69-70 cars. Uses 16 and 12 gauge wire where needed. Probably have a couple call out errors on it though.

I don't recall if I made a prototype or not. Easy enough to do since I think I have all the 69 parts to try it out. Leaving for Europe on Monday for two weeks. If I get my chores done tomorrow I'll make one up.

I made up a prototype and it works. I now have a new design that only requires one wire to the switch.

However, this just removes the high power out of the switch and doesn't mean you'll have brighter headlights. The problem usually lies with the fuse box or feeds to the headlights.

One of the guys used the Victoria British harness on his 69 and it worked well. Plug and play.

The design I did this morning puts the Bosch 4 pin style relay with stock relay so you can screw them on together.

The Victoria British, or Ebay equivalent is simple and reversible. Factory wire triggers the relay, power direct from battery. You do need to remove the terminals from the plastic or ceramic plugs and reinstall after going through the small grommets into the headlight buckets.
