Sorry that a BA15 will not work.....
This is really beginning to suck. Can't find sockets and covers.
Puttzing in my garage I checked my bulb drawer.
I have some bulbs and sockets from a VW.
Anyway they fit inside my tach hole for bulbs and the lip on the holder keeps it from going too far.

One would need to figure out how to keep it on tight.
Just a thought.

Thanks. I'm going to investigate what the cost would be to have the outside socket made. At some point people will want nice new sockets they don't have to replate.

On the other hand if you just squeezed in the sides of the BA15S socket they would stay on. Makes them oval but I'm sure it would work.

You might get away with a small O ring in the slot of the VW holder

At least I now have some backup bulbs for personal use, I keep forgetting Curtis has a factory to run.
The o-ring is interesting as is aquarium tube, gives me another reason to forget why I'm at ACE ...
I'll check it out ...

Seems the o-ring might fall into the deep corners of our precious gauges.
One might be able to wrap copper wire of the appropriate gauge (size here lol) and solder. Too labor
intensive for a factory even if it would work.

Found an o-ring which fits the slot, and is tantalizingly close.
Pics provided on request.
Just a wee bit too big on push into gauge as it slides out of the slot.

A little deeper slot or a little smaller o-ring or some glue (weather strip) and this might be as
easy to install as the OEM fasteners.

I know Curtis is still off to find someone to make a million of the OEM ones.
Still feel good about a backup for a bulb if I need one.

Stupid question, what does this light do anyway?

I have an extra housing if anyone is interested. The cover just needs to be cleaned up a bit.

Is the BA9S socket the correct one for the dash lights? Seems that some have used this size for LED bulbs , so the socket would be the same?
Thx

So the problem is while the inner socket is a ba9s the outside socket is a special size. Not a ba15. Which is why I never managed to have any made.

Best bet is to get some used ones and have them replated. That's what I'm going to do.

Can’t believe that Nissan did not “borrow” from another manufacturer for theses sockets. None of the 510s, Zs etc used this size?
Wonder if they borrowed from the Brits...

Well, not the MGB anyway, Completely different.

There is a way to do it if you want to use bulb sockets with the tabs to hold them in. Get out your drill and drill it to fit. Kind of drastic since there are extra sockets around people will let go of.

Maybe you could design a 3D printed adaptor for a B9 blub holder. You would need to add a ground strap or wire.
Or a holder for a LED.

I could but its just not worth it to me. Just make sure people don't throw away the sockets, they're pretty easily refurbished.
