Dash Light Socket Reproduction

Post by Curtis »

Hello All,

Do any of you have any advice on finding a manufacturer to reproduce the snap in dash light sockets? I've have looked around some and was even wondering about the ship it overseas to get an estimate.

Any experience with getting a similar product would be appreciated.

The other method would be to just beg people to sell me any extras they have to get refurbished.

Thanks, Curtis

No experience, toss out a thought.
Brass tubing right diameter? Use dremel to cutout attachment part.

Not fun if you need dozens or even one. Then they is the spring and the bulb

Easier might be plastic tubing the right size with aluminum foil or thin aluminum for ground

Used, you can find them, many rusty. And at what price will people sell them for? Mostly they are still attached to a harness which is junk and costs too much.

They seem to have ceased after 1970 and I haven't found any others yet but I'm sure there are others. The 69-70 roadster uses a plastic socket just for the high beam and the rest are the other.

Z's don't use them that I have found.

Took a look at my spare dash......

It looks like it might be able to be made from 2 sockets. The inside for the blub is a BA9S base if I read the WIKI correctly...LOL

I have not researched the outer portion.

Did a little more research.....LOL......

The outside should be a BA15S...........

Looks like you can buy them on ebay

You might get lucky and be able to solder one inside the other.

That's an interesting thought. The original is swaged together. Thanks.

Edit, I just ordered some of each. Had no idea that the outside socket was the same as a 1056.

If you get supper lucky, you could rivet the two together with a X00 Grommet.

So the BA 15 socket is a bust. It is slightly larger (.59" diameter) then the outer socket so it won't grab on. The outer socket is about .54 as best I can remember at the moment.

I'm looking for specs on bulbs thinking there was a dome light or other that was slightly smaller but I cannot find it as yet.

According to the bulb web site BA....is the style......9 or 15 is the size in mm.

I don't know if you can find brass BS15S sockets, but you can shrink tubing by rolling slowly and lightly between two plates of metal.

Not sure if it will work with the socket as it has slits.
