I know this thread is old. But as the original poster, I wanted to provide an update on how the "Cowles Protetkto Trim" is holding up for me.

Its been almost 3 years since I put it on and its still doing great! I live in the Phoenix area and it has been through 3 HOT phoenix summers. My car is garaged when not being driven, but its still hot in the garage. My trim shows no signs of coming loose anywhere. I have not had to redo any of it. I'm still happy with the results. :)

I plan on doing this to mine as well,

I noticed your car does not have the grove in the quarter panel, do you know if it was filled in?
My car has the grove and wondering if I need to go back and fill it in as I do the body work.

Or, is the Protecto trim wide enough to fit over the grove?

I know that this is a very old thread, but I bought a Cowels Protecto Trim kit about a year ago, then decided to go with the Viet Nam-manufactured stainless side trim so I have the Cowels kit available if anyone is interested. It's available for what I paid, $31 plus shipping from.
