Right, you have to bleed the master. Get some tubing and connect to the bleed valve and open, then loop it back into the reservoir and pump til there are no more bubbles.
Put some towels around to protect your paint. Oh, nevermind for your paint....

clear tubing from Home Depot helps you to see, and be careful the end that goes into the reservoir doesn't pop out when you are pushing the pedal. You might be able to stand, press the pedal and reach over and hold the tube in.

Hmmm, i've never tried that. I'm gonna do it tonight. And I don't have to worry about my paint either :) Although I will through a towel down to protect my primer!

And Garm, I don't know if you already have it or not, but the brake brace helps a lot to stiffen the peddle.

^ thanks I do have the brace. I think we didn't bleed the master, never done that before.

Linda, I chuckled at that. I AM trying not to do more damage, really!

Most of the brake masters I've changed over the years came with two plastic fittings and hoses from the re-manufacturers to facilitate bleeding.

I always have a problem doing this in the car. After I hook everything up and pump it till it's bubble free, all of the fluid just pours out again when I take the bleeder hoses off. How do y'all get around this?

I bleed it on the car, using the two bleeder valves, just like at the wheels - open, depress, tighten, release. If I have a master that doesn't have these bleeders, I loosen a line - pump and hold, tighten and release. It can get messy so lots of rags/catch can.

You put the box end wrench on first, then squeeze the tubing on. Open up the bleeder a little keeping the wrench on there... Then close when you are done. No air leaks. And actually you can put a speed bleeder on there too for even less hassle

I remember there being a lot of 60s cars that take the same pad as a roadster so hopefully there is still some availability out there for good aftermarket performance options.
Oil a little low? Time to get a longer dipstick:)
