Putting down the new top

Post by Revbang »

I just had a new top put on my early 67 Roadster with a rollbar. When I bought the car it had the hard top on it, but I have seen pictures of it with the soft top.

Problem is putting down the top. It misses the roll bar pretty well, but doesn't want to push down and rest behind the rollbar and on the back of the car. Do I need to disconnect "posties" or "twisties"? Do I need to disconnect the swatches of material that snap together to hold the top down to the top frame? I don't want to force it down, lest I tear my new top! I would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Mark

If you force it down, you WILL tear your top. Undo it all and put the frame down, then fold the top carefully so as to not crease the windows and them "roll" it around the frame into the rear shelf area.
