Independent rear susp/axle

Post by Frisky311 »

Hey everyone, especially the more knowledgable ones.
Just a quick question. Has anyone tried to put a 510 independent rear suspension in a roadster? If so how hard was it? And how much extra fab work was involved. Was thinking about trying it in m car I it's not gonna be a total nightmare.
Thanks

Errol Frisk.

I put one under a courier truck 20 years ago. IIRC its too wide to fit under a roadster with out BIG flairs.

You could cut one down but its going to be a tight fit.

Some kind of hybrid using 914 arms and a cage to support the carrier might be easier. LOL

I've seen a Miata IRS swapped under a roadster. It didn't work well at all, and was too wide. The owner was going to swap Mac struts into the front if it as well. The whole setup made for a really ugly looking car. The back end looked really soggy and required 6 inch fender flares to be welded on.

I thought I had a picture of it, but I can't find it at this time.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!
