shank nut size

Post by Chris66 »

I have a pair of ZX wheels, left over from my Z, i'm considering to put them on the roadster and need to know what size shank nut i will need, i know there are roadsters out there with ZX wheels, so they should fit.

The wheel stud is 7/16 -20 . The lug nut size required for the alloy ZX wheel is 10x1.25

Chris you can ask wheelcomponents.
I've got some parts from them for my roadster.

You realize that unless you change the studs, they won't work on a Roadster, don't you? I have a 69 here that has metric studs in it to run Z wheels, but it was done by the PO.

Chris,

Sorry, that was intended for Muck, not you. On the shanks, the ones that I posted the part number for has been used by others successfully. I don't have any Z wheels on my car, so I don't need the lugs.

So, 7/16/20 thread and the larger shank diameter for the Z wheels, I assume?

I just bought the 6 spoke wheels for my 1968 roadster and in reading this post, I am thoroughly confused. I tried to get on the wheelcomponents website but they are under construction. Can someone confirm the lug specs for me?

Wheel Stud: 7/16x20
Lug size: 10X1.25 or 12x1.25

If I go to a local tire store or auto zone, what measurements should I be looking for? Someone please help. Thanks.

Or if someone could give me the specs for part number 5302, that would help me in my search as well..

Searching Lug Nut 5302 on the internet

Hex: 13/16"
Shank Dia: 0.73
Shank Length: 0.60
Thread: 7/16

just measure the hole ID, they should be a good, but loose fit.
Thickness just has to be less than shank length...
I would want at least 0.65 which give a clearance 0.050
