a little more than one prolly needs but does seem to cover anything a roadster is likely to need 90% of the time

Besides these basic tools I ditched the spare tire since I have AAA and carry 2 gal of extra fuel just in case.

haha I didn't have a spare , so I put a sub speaker in the trunk .
good call with the gas can . I carry a tire plug set for those troublesome nails/ screws . I can have one of those plugs in before I need to add air back .. because AAA can take a bit of time to get out sometimes. .

The way my car is running lately I think I'll put an MX-5 in there.

I went to Harbor freight and Sears and filled up a tool bag. SAE, Metric, and so forth. If somebody snatches it I won't feel bad since it is 90% HF.

don't forget band-aids / first aid kit !
in Ohio (spent 18months or so as a kid ) they had surviver kits for cars . tin cup 15hr candle , Snickers , etc . although I don't think I'll get caught in the snow . the Snickers sounds good to add too . haha never know

I carry gaffer tape rather than duct tape. It's tougher but with a lighter adhesive that doesn't leave residue when you remove it. It's about 3x the cost of duct tape but 5x better. Available at a theatrical supply (eg, Musson). Comes in pretty colors! Tested at speed!
