Tach drive pedestal

Post by cktrap »

Is their an o-ring sealing the tach drive pedestal to the block? It looks like there is a spot for one but I can't find any info calling one out. Your thoughts and help please.
Thanks

there is however at least an o-ring between the dizzy and cable - perhaps even an internal seal - don't remember.

Speaking of the o-ring in the kit in the link:

I believe The o-ring goes towards the dizzy housing
as the big nut screws into the dizzy housing. Did not
Have my nut off when I repaired my seal, so the o-ring
Was not used.

The seal is there for the pinion drive and goes inside the
Big nut part.

The other part goes inside the cable knurl.
This might be well documented in Stacey Willbur's tach
Seal leak thesis. I know Steve A archived pictures etc
From this in the wiki.

I fear I never replaced a gasket for my housing foot to the block last it was out, might need to do this.
Probably more info than you wanted ... oh well.

Cheers

You can get the Dizzie o-ring at any parts store with an o-ring selection for about a buck.
