Idol adjust screw / spring

Post by Lorna c »

Hey , I've lost all three of my springs that go to the idol control screws . Does anybody know the name or where to get these or thick springs for them close to what I've lost ? I've put in others and after the motor warms up the idols change . Been looking for a while and no luck even knowing what to ask for .. anyone loose those springs too ?

Not sure on the springs, however, if the idle changes after it warms up I would check The accelerator cable to make sure that there is a bit of slack at idle when the car is warm. Very common for that cable to be too tight and as the car heats up it pulls on the throttle linkage

You need to check the slack when it is warm/hot

Idle control springs under the idle control screw for each carb, are in the Keyster carb rebuild kit on eBay.

Do you have the heat shield? I didn't see it in the pictures. If not, what are you hooking the springs to?

Is that what they hook to ! I had to make spots for them to hook up because I didn't know this thing was a heat shield if it is . Looks to be. I'll get a picture in a bit . It's been doing fine without it but I would assume it needs to be there . Good eye !

And thanks Linda I won't need any for a while , I thought I got 6 springs , but I got

6 sets of springs . So if anyone needs any I can mail some . Free . I have 12 now . hah from 0 to 12 .

Ok well you're right again ! I've just assumed if there's slack in throttle cable it's fine . Thought it was supposed to tightn' up when I felt it like that warmed up. Well tight tight that is . Now how much slack is good slack warmed up? Probably until it's not tight anymore when hot right . I'm glad u said something about that ! But now I have to run new because this goofball friend of mine cut my throttle cable helping me back months ago putting in the motor . So no extra to slack it more . Ergh I was mad about that but thought it was safe on slack . Buttttt guess not. So I'll thread in some new and see what happens after that .
