Front Wheel hub disassembly

Post by digits4063 »

Happy Sunday all!

I am putting longer wheel studs in the front and need to disassemble the hub so I can get the old ones out and new ones in. So far I have the hubs off, the bearings out, and the bolts that appear to hold the discs to the hub assembly removed, but I cannot get the two piece to disconnect from each other.

Have I missed a connection? I see no reason why they are still attached to each other, besides 50 years of oxidation.

Any thoughts? This is on a 1966 1600

Use your favorite rust buster spray. I have had good luck putting it back on the spindle ad tapping with a dead blow hammer.
Its very easy to bend the seal area if you support the rotor and try to tap the hub out.

Lots of spray, lots of patience, lots of banging. Hit them hard enough and they WILL break, ask me how I know :(. Mike
