I saw that Dean sells the 3 ohms. coil which is part of my confusion. In the Tech Wiki is a link to INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 12V ELECTRONIC IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR FOR THE 1600/2000 DATSUN ROADSTERS. In the instructions they talk about using a coil from a junkyard. The primary winding resistance should be 0.84 to 1.02 ohms. The one that came with the car measured 0.7 ohms. and I have a spare that is 3 ohms.

Ran the car yesterday until it warmed up then died. Quickly changed coils and it would still not run, no spark. After cooling a few minute it started again and ran fine. I had a volt meter on the - post of the coil and it went from 9 V to 14 V (battery voltage at 2500RPM) the moment the spark quit. The pickup in the EI-dizzy measured 400 ohm (good). The ignition module read 42 K ohm. hot without spark then 160 K ohm. when it had cooled and was running again.

Ordered a new ignition module and I hope this solves the problem.

So I'm pretty sure this is a good location for this question. Still learning my way around this car. On my 66 roadster, the carb closest to the cockpit has a nipple on the bottom of it that is dripping gas. Consistently. A lot of it. I'm assuming that something should be attached to this nipple (a rubber hose or something) but I don't know where it is supposed to go to. Now it doesn't always drip like this. I don't understand why it only does it sometimes.

About chrome cleaning.

A very cheep method is to crumple up some aluminum foil then uncrumple it and use that along with Coca-Cola or WD40 to wipe rust off aluminum or chrome.
Oil a little low? Time to get a longer dipstick:)

How about a picture Chris. The only nipple or fitting I am aware of is for the vacuum advance, and it should not be leaking much. Other suspects are leaking jet housing, leaking hose to the jet, or an overflow pipe that has been cut short. The overflow pipe would leak if your floats are set incorrectly or sticking. Leaking hose means you need some specialized replacement, standard fuel hose will NOT work as it binds the mechanism (needs to move freely).

Suspect the overflow pipes, but a picture would be best.

Hey thanks for the reply. It's hard to get a picture because it is on the bottom. I know it's not the overflow tubes BC I don't have any haha. Now the vaccuum nipple could be it. I didn't know there was one on the carbs. I'll have to try and get in there with a camera and get a shot.

You will want to run a vacuum hose from the rear carb to the dizzy once you stop the gas leak.

The MSD Blaster 2 coil has been recommended forever with several thread references. However, if there is new thinking recommending something else I would like to hear why. I have been using the 8202 setup as recommended without problem.

Vaccum nipple should only be on the carb closest to the firewall. It is just under the throttle plates. By definition it should have vacuum, and thus not able to leak fuel.
Whatever it is, fix it, and in the meantime keep a fire extinguisher handy! The exhaust manifold is right there, as well as some pretty heavy duty electrical voltage at the starter, all things that don't mix well with raw fuel. Good luck and be careful!

Just because you do not have any tubes does not mean the carbs will not leak out the hole where the tubes should be
I would expect more that just gas off the vacuum nipple though

Is there a trick to getting the Rear brake shoes to stay in place instead of swinging torwed each other and away from the car?
