Shocks are the same iirc.

The one on the coil is for noise reduction on the radio. I don't know the specs on that condenser.

The condense on the coil is likely there to suppress radio noise on the HI-FI OEM AM Radio system. It does no harm, and may not need to be replaced. As far as the lack of a ballast resistor, that could be an issue if it is supposed to have one from the factory. Does it burn up points fast?

1. are the shock absorbers the same between a 1500 and 1600? I think yes but want to verify.

2. my ignition system is bone stock with the exception of its been converted to neg. ground and has a non oem ignition coil. there are 2 condensers, one on the distributor and one on the coil. should the one on the coil be there? there is no ballast resistor just a condenser. no runability issues I just want to replace the condener(s) for good measure and make sure its setup correctly.

thanks in advance!
The tech wiki is your friend. If you go to the manuals in the tech wiki and look on page 74 of the red cover SPL310 manual it will list out the parts. The 310 according to the manual and schematic did not have a resistor. It has the one condenser on the distributor per the manual.

Since all the later models use the resistor I would leave it on.

I have owned 3 1500s. All have had the condenser in question. None had a resistor.

Awsome! Thanks for the quick replies! I will leave the coil condenser alone and pick up a spare for the distributor.

I didn't even think to check the schematic. Think i may get some new shocks too. Thanks again guys.

1. I would say yes.

2. The condenser on the distributor is essential to protect the ignition points from severe arcing when they open.
The item on the coil is more likely a NOISE SUPPRESSOR for the radio.
Not essential to the ignition system but it will prevent induced voltage being heard as clicking or popping in the radio speaker.
No radio?
Not necessary!

Does another have a picture of the internals for a pre 67.5 clock? Mine is currently correct twice a day, has power but not running. Looks like somebody desoldered the connections, want to check against an (working?) example! Thanks!

FYI - '67.5 clock is the same as the earlier one, only with blacked out bezel and knob.

The reverse light switch that mounts to the transmission appears to be leaking a bit transmission fluid. Is there a seal or gasket for this that could be replaced? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I used silicone on and around mine after the switch screwed all the way in to plug some of the leaking, you might make a cork gasket on your own, but I've never seen a gasket for a 67 which is a little different (same principle) than the 67.5.
I tried a copper crush washer a while ago (a month or so and it did not stop the leak).

I'm about to crawl under and check for leaks again soon. May have an update.

I just looked under the car and it is still leaking what appears to be from the backup switch. Might try more silicone and or a cork gasket sometime.
Mine leaks too

IIRC, the cap, rotor and condenser are all fine. The points have weak springs and tend to bounce. I could be wrong.

Re backup switch - not sure how one could use a gasket there - could try plumber's/milspec tape though.

Thinking maybe a homemade cork gasket which seats between the switch and the tranny housing might work.
I like the what I understand to be pro style "teflon tape" suggestion.
