Who has installed seat heaters?

Post by GoldHawg »

In my Datsun build I will be adding seat heaters. Anybody have experience w/doing this? I see dozens on Amazon/ebay, but I'd really like to get a very high quality kit, preferably w/adjustable heat settings. If any of you have experience/knowledge, please chime in on your experiences.
Thanks!

I had my upholstery guy install eBay purchased when he did my seats. He didn't charge extra, said it was an easy job. They have both seat bottom and back heaters, no variable heat control. I only have used them once, a 32 degree, open top morning drive. The were very effective. Around $80 for the pair. FWIW Pat

I haven't installed any but my snowmobile came with one. Except for very cold as in 10 degrees and 40 MPH winds it is not useable because it has just two settings and low is too hot within five minutes of turning it on.

I also used eBay seat heaters when I did my seats several years ago. The ones I used have two heat settings and I think the cost was about half of what Pat paid. They are just rectangular pads that go between the foam and the outer vinyl. Very simple to install. Also like Pat I have only used them one or twice, but they do work well.

:D Linda loves her blanket

When I redo my seats this winter they're definitely getting heaters , with the tonneau cover this will give me close to 2 extra months of enjoying the Roadster

I’m looking at a cooling/heating kit with perforated seats. Cooling is a bit more favorable here in Texas. But if I can’t make it work I’ll be doing heat pads off eBay for sure.

The 01 LS 430 had cooling pads ....mostly they keep you from sweating up a suit / dress shirt

Cooling requires motors and fans and they more room underneath the seats than is available in a roadster

Yep but I’m hard headed and I’ve got a spare set of Miata seats to test on. So I figured it was worth a shot. If nothing else running cold air on your neck does a lot to cool you down.
