Early 4 speed transmission synchronizers

I got tired of double clutching and rev matching with my original 4 speed transmission, and thinking that its synchros were bad replaced it with a 4 speed from a later car which works beautifully. Now looking into the two transmissions it appears that the gears in my original transmission are in fine shape, but this original 1966 transmission simply had far fewer synchronizing gears than the later one. Photos of the interior of the two transmissions are attached, with the replacement on top and original on the bottom. What can any of you tell me about whether the earlier 4 speed roadsters had fewer synchronizing gears? Many thanks!

No... the same number ,all foward gears
The speed gears are always engaged ( constant mesh )and free wheeling
The syncros lock a gear to the output shaft
Some 1.5 -3 ton trucks, back then had a unsyncro 1st gear
As it was very low and down shifting into it could do damage twists shafts etc.

Your transmission on the left is a late model Warner type with brass synchro. On the right is the more common Servo type with a steel band synchro. Both are a bottom cover 4 speed but use different innards.
