So check out where we are with the paint job. Don't get too excited he says. Could'nt hardly sleep last night :smt023

"Teaser.you can read the license plate number on my car in the driveway from the reflection off the hood of your car. Lol. Sorry but don't get too excited. I do need to touch up some of the part. I'm working thru the weekend again so I'm hoping for all repaint and buffing to be done by Monday night and assembly and exhaust next week. Driving it the following week. A long time coming."

BTW anyone have a pic or diagram specific to a 68 1600 exhaust? I have the beutiful header and flex pipe from Dean. Just want to make sure the rest of the system is right too. Tech Wiki has a drawing but not much that I could find really specific to the 68. Thanks everyone.

What paint did they use that was bad, and which paint did they use that was good?

Linda,
I'll get the details on the paint and clear coat details and make a final posting on this thread. I'll try and get more detail on exactly what did happen and how it was somehow magically corrected.
Getting pumped to spending some quality time driving the car. Have only driven it 3 times total of 20 miles. The interior still needs lots of work but that's for the winter months. Not alot of car driver bonding time YET!
And Yes a Pontiac Aztek, now there's a cool car

What kind of shiny paint is that? Is it the same as was used before when it failed? Trying to learn from your, or your shop’s, mistakes :)

Jeff texted me today : "I just finished painting the car for the 2nd time since we last talked. yes I'm finally happy with it so I can wet sand and buff it . Sorry I'm was such a stickler on it. But I feel like it was personal and the car was winning. In your face car I beat you. lol. but seriously I think you are gonna love it after its buffed." You just gotta love this guy!! The body work and paint is turning out sooooooooooooooo nice :smt005 after all the problems. You just gotta believe :smt007 I guess this will end this thread. Thanks to all who have helped me get through this.

So, it looks like your painter used Nason. Any chance I can get the formula used for the Sora Blue base coat? Car looks fantastic.

Looking good, but you need to get a hood prop before you install your grill or it will be pinched!
