Setting valves today

Post by bossbob »

I reinstalled the head, getting ready to set the valves and finish it off.

1. Rocker arm torque, couldn't find the value, so tight but don't break the bolt?
2. Cold setting .020 intake and exhaust
3. Rotate crank through firing order

Sound about right.

Can't do a hot setting yet, I have to do the initial set up. R16 motor, are you sure about .008 and .012 book say's .020 cold and .017 hot. I'm the rookie, so correct me on the settings.

I set them at .020 took all of about 20 minutes. Let me know if I need to go back and re-set them.

Thanks

That is correct for cold.
Be careful about the rocker tower torque. It is listed somewhere. It is not too hard to strip the threads in the holes. Then you have to helicoil it, which is exciting.
