electrical wiring

Post by johnscf »

I'm working on some of my wiring harnesses and want to try to match the wire colors to what was originally used. I'm having trouble finding wiring with the colors with the stripes on them. Anybody know a good source for this stuff. if I counted correctly there are 26 different color wires with the red alone having 6 different versions: red, red with green stripe, red with yellow stripe, red with black stripe etc etc. Any suggestions.

Rhode Island Wire. But they have a minimum order.

Or https://4rcustomswire.com/. The plastic covering is a little different material.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

Thanks Curtis. And let me know if you're still making and selling harnesses

I just ordered some from them today. They have a 10’ minimum, I ordered 3 colors for a total of 40’. Shipping will be about 12 or thirteen dollars, about as much as the wire costs :( , but where else are you going to find obscure wire colors!

If you knew how many hours I spent searching just to find these two sources.

I’ve known about Rhode Island for some time, but was unaware of 4rcustom. Looks like their minimum is a little less. Good info, thanks Curtis.

Any idea about how backed up? I could use an engine harness for a 68 2000 I hope to get on the road this summer.

Just to add a bit about the coatings. the 4r wire uses xple vs PVC and is a superior coating that resists aging, heat, chemicals, etc. I highly recommend it if you are doing wiring.

http://indiancables.net/difference-betw ... conditions.

this goes into the advantages vs pvc which is what the OEM harness uses.
